Take the XTS or XTL, I wonder which one you have?
I'm asking about version 17 because that is the last version of CPS
released by Motorola. It was taken out of production, so I guess they
won't release any more CPS versions after 17.
What I'm wondering is if the cps versions 17, 14 and 16 software
should be made available to others?
They never should have released the cps version 16. It didn't work well
at all and is also missing some features.
It is also interesting to know if it is possible to use cps version 14
for the radio and cps version 17 for the scanner.
I will try to get my hands on these versions as soon as possible and
share the information I can get.
I would expect that cps version 17, just like all the other CPS versions,
is only sold through authorized dealers. It's kind of funny that the
dealers are the only ones allowed to sell the non-pro software.
If you are allowed to download it, then it would be possible for other
un-official users to get their hands on it.
Once you've done that, you can use cps on your radios.
The CPS cps version 14 software is installed on the radios with the same
version. If you have a cps v17 software and a cps v14 software, then you
can install the cps v14 software on your radio.
When you download the CPS v17 software, you will also get a.DAT file
and a.SID file for that software.
A.DAT file is a Motorola.IDA file that is a ZIP archive.
The.SID file is a Motorola ScanFileSID
file that also is a ZIP archive.
You would need the.DAT and.SID files from a version 14 (which might
be in a.rar file) for the software to work on your radio.
As far as the old cps versions, here is what I have found out:
cps version 16: no software, just a small.cpp program and some bin
files that are needed for CPS on v17 or v14 software.
cps version 14: the software is really large. There is a.cpp program
and a.IDA program.
